What's In A Decade, 2010 - 2019
- © GC Diaries

I have seen some LinkedIn posts where people are sharing their reflections on their achievements over the past 10 years, 2010-2019.

One guy had an Engineering diploma at the beginning of the decade and closed it off with a PhD in the same field.

Another person was "not good at anything" but ended up the decade as a succesful entrepreneur and investor.

I know of people who didn't have a single property, but have acquired and paid off ten (10) properties in the same decade, creating a passive gross income above the national average.

I completed 3 Masters in the period, 2 of them with distinctions and got published in an international peer reviewed academic journal, The Journal of Private Equity. This is something I didn't know was possible, but dared myself to pursue. The decade also saw me working on 3 key mobile technology generations - 3G, 4G & 5G...even as I transformed my career from Network Planning Engineering to Sales Management to Management Consulting. By the way, I managed to attend a FIFA World Cup match.

So what is the key takeaway, as we unpack the gift of another decade?

There is enough time in a decade to achieve some of your wildest dreams. We tend to underestimate what we can accomplish over the long term. We can be intentional and it starts by creating a long term vision for the decade - over the 10 years 2020-2029, what do you want to accomplish? Come 2029, you might be surprised.

Whatever your aspirations, let's make the most with the gift of time that we have...every single day counts. The New Decade Starts Now!
