As the years go by,
One can't help but feel like a passenger in a bus.
Looking through the windows,
Everything outside seems to be moving.
Trees, mountains, buildings and the road;
They all seem to be in purposeful motion.
Going somewhere with intent,
Yet you are stuck in your seat, it seems;
Going nowhere!!
Ever felt that??
Such is life sometimes,
It's a master of illusion and Grand-Daddy of disguise.
If you are not careful,
You may not realise/appreciate the progress you have made.
I know it feels like you are stuck,
But do not be fooled by the trees and buildings you see through the window.
Yes, they look busy.
Yes, some of them look dressed for success.
Yes, they move with swag and a spring in their step;
Yes, they are colourful.
But realise this,
You may actually be the one moving ahead.
Before it stretches higher up in the sky;
Every seed has to first be stuck in the ground.
Before it blooms and blossom;
Every flower has to first bud.
Before you reach the next stop,
Enjoy the ride.
Tomorrow, as I celebrate my birthday;
The rest of my life begins.
Let's face it;
I am not perfect and my life is not perfect.
I celebrate that,
It gives me hope and something to live for.
- a chance to be better!
Let's face it,
I don't have it all.
I celebrate that,
It gives me something to work towards.
- a chance to do better!
Let's face it,
At times I feel stuck.
I celebrate it,
The bus I am sitting on will get somewhere.
- a chance to get somewhere better!
Remember this;
Life is a master of illusion and the Grand-Daddy of disguise.
Its ok to be a passenger,
When God is in the driver's seat!
